Remember the photos of the tree that damaged my brother's house in the May 11th post? The neighbor's insurance company refuses to cover the damage because they claim it was "an act of God". Bill told them he had spoken to the neighbor months earlier about trimming it and he had assured Bill that insurance would cover it. Their response was, "Do you have that in writing?"

They're all a bunch of damned crooks.

Well, they can't all be crooks, Betty. If the insurance company has God's word that She knocked over that tree, then they must be on good terms with the almighty. After all, I seriously doubt that they have a videotape of a long heavenly arm with a hacksaw.

But just because the insurance company didn't pay doesn't make the neighbor any less liable. Your brother will now have to take him to small claims court. There's no other way.

Also, he can put pressure on the insurance company...he shouldn't give up because they said no.

*groan* I dislike hearing such drivel by insurance companies and inconsiderate neighbors.

I hope it all works out for your brother. Even if he does have to go to small claims court.
All the best to him!
